Star Tree Farm is a family-owned, choose-and-cut Christmas tree farm, nestled in the farmland between Okemos and Mason, Michigan. The farm is a nice afternoon drive from any Metro-Detroit location.
Families can come out and pick their special tree. We want to provide a place where families and friends can experience the tradition of cutting their own Christmas tree in a rustic, friendly, comfortable setting.
OUR HOURS
The selling season begins the day after Thanksgiving (Nov. 24th) and ends a few days before Christmas (Dec. 20th).
Because Jesus is the reason for the season, we are closed every Sunday for our day of worship.
Sundays: Closed
Monday – Friday: Open 3PM – 5 PM
Saturday: Open 9 AM – 5PM
TREE INFORMATION
SPRUCE
The Blue Spruce is known for its attractive bluish foliage. It has an almost natural pyramidal shape and stiff branches making it very easy to decorate.

FIR
The Balsam Fir and Canaan Fir have dark green soft, short needles, with open branches and a delightful fragrance.

PINE
Scotch Pine has been a traditional Christmas tree for many decades. This tree has medium length needles and strong branches. The White Pine is the state tree of Michigan. It has long soft needles and a beautiful feathery look.

We also offer pre-cut trees ($48) for those who do not want to go into the fields and potted trees ($55) for those who would like to add a Star Tree Farm tree to their landscaping after the holidays.

Along with the perfect Christmas tree, you’ll want to pick out a fresh, decorated wreath to complete your holiday decor. We carry stands and provide drilling free of charge. Tree Life (fertilizer) and Tree Disposal Bags are also available for a nominal fee.
Star Tree Farm also carries maple syrup which makes a great gift. The syrup is produced by a neighboring family farm. Yum!

About Us
Star Tree Farm started in 1986 when Ray and Barb Schmidgall and their four daughters planted little saplings on a 40 acre plot on the corner of Willoughby and Dobie Roads. After seven years of planting, trimming, staking, and nurturing, the trees were finally ready to be sold.
Star Tree Farm opened for its first selling season in 1993 and is now in its 31st year of providing fresh, natural Christmas trees for the Christmas season.
The main emphasis of Star Tree Farm is to provide a place where families and friends can experience the tradition of cutting their own Christmas tree in a friendly, comfortable, natural setting.
